Determination of Natural Radionuclides for Ground Shapes in Tar Al-Najaf , Iraq

The natural radioactivity of the earth formations Tar Al-Najaf region in Al-Ashraf governorate has been studied , which is considered one most important archaeological areas province. As phenomena prominently present governorate, as it cuts sharply to form a rocky cliff, well overlooks from southern end plateau and on sea Al-Najaf, clear surprising way, flew, by selecting 30 sites take soil samples region, spectral measurements were made using gamma-ray spectroscopy (NaI(Tl)) . It was found that specific activity 238U, 232Th 40K ranged between with average (8.356±1.013) (21.728) (475.391 ± 7.870) (95.173 1.994) (281.197) respectively. per radium equivalent, ( ) (37.576) (68.678) concentration index (0.756) (0.272) (0.510) while external hazard (0.101) rate (0.184) Comparing results globally values, radiation levels are within permissible limits.
